Business Credit Cards-Low Interest Rates and High Credit Limits for Organizations
Business credit cards, often referred to as corporate credit cards, are used by organizations. Employees in the organization are given individual cards in their own name to be used for business and travel related expenses.
Most companies have policy guidelines in place that cover what expenses can be charged to an employee’s business credit card. The organization typically set the credit limits for their employees’ credit cards based on the individual employee’s position level in the company and the amount of travel and business related expenses that have been approved for their position.
Organizations typically use business credit cards to support their employees so they can do their job. For example, if an employee is required to travel for meetings, sales calls, consultations and conferences, having a business or corporate credit card makes it much easier for them to make their travel arrangements and take care of their expenses while away from home. A business
credit card system also makes easier for the
organization to track and document spending by
employee, department, account, project,
etc.
Most organizations have stringent polices and rules about how business credit cards used. The recent financial crisis and the inappropriate spending of some of the bailout money, is causing companies to place a limit on the amount of spending that can be charged to entertainment and travel. These stringent
polices help the organization to track the cost of travel and entertainment expenses. The majority of the companies also require employees to complete a monthly reconciliation of their individual credit card including attaching all receipts. The internal accounting department will then apply the charges to the appropriate budget line items.
Business credit cards are available for any business from individual business owners to major corporations. Many people today are starting their own home based businesses. They can also apply for a business credit card. In addition to travel and entertainment related expenses, business credit cards are also used for office supplies, copies, and major purchases such as office furniture and equipment.
Business credit cards offer many benefits to an organization. Most cards have a reward program to encourage the business owner to use the account for major purchases and pay the balance off each month.
There are point reward systems and cash back reward systems. There are specific requirements to qualify for a business card. Business cards
